Winter weather generally brings icy and slippery road conditions, sometimes for months at a time. It can be difficult to drive safely, even if you are super vigilant. Usually, you can see snow and ice on the road. Sometimes, you can’t, as in the case of black ice.
In icy conditions, hard braking can cause sliding, spinouts, and accidents. Your best bet: drive slowly, and keep a good distance between yourself and other vehicles. Even if you break hard, there is a likelihood that your vehicle will become uncontrollable and collision-prone. Additionally, if whiteout conditions are expected, consider postponing your trip.
